ABOUT YVONE LENARD
Yvone Lenard left her native France as
a young adult to make her life in California, where she obtained
her Master's in French and Classics at UCLA. She became the Head
of Language Division, French Department, UCLA, then Chairman of
the Foreign Language Department at California State University,
Dominguez Hills. Her highly successful textbooks on French language
and culture have been recognized by the French government by awarding
her the rank of Officer in The National Order of Academic Palms,
the rank of Knight in The Academy of Arts, Sciences, and Letters,
and the medal, Mérite et Dévouement Française.
The City of Paris has awarded its own medal, L'Ordre de la
Courtoisie Française. As Resident Director for a year
of the International Program of the University of California at
Aix-en-Provence, she fell in love with the region and purchased
the house which is the subject of this book.
Her semi-autobiographical romance novel, Chantal (Published by Delacorte in 1989), is about the life of a young woman in
Nazi-occupied France.
Yvone Lenard divides her time between her two homes in Los Angeles and Provence.
