Well, let me tell ya about this here Arcanum Tarot, it ain’t like them regular cards you play with, no sir. This one’s special, got all sorts of pictures and whatnots.
Now, they say there’s these Major Arcana cards, a whole bunch of ‘em, like 22 or somethin’. They tell a story, see? Startin’ from the Fool, that’s like a young fella just startin’ out, all the way to The World, which I guess means he’s seen it all.
It’s like a journey, they say. You go through different stages, learnin’ lessons and stuff. Reminds me of growin’ up on the farm, you start out knowin’ nothin’, and then you learn about plantin’ and harvestin’, and then…well, you get the picture.
- They tell me these cards, they got somethin’ to do with them old Catholic pictures, way back when. Them fancy folks in Italy, they made ‘em up, or somethin’ like that.
- One of them cards, it’s called the Hanged Man. Sounds kinda spooky, don’t it? But it ain’t what you think. It just means lookin’ at things from a different angle, they say. Like when you gotta fix a fence, you gotta look at it from all sides to see where the problem is.
And then there’s this Magician card. Now, he ain’t pullin’ rabbits outta hats, though that would be somethin’ to see. He’s about makin’ things happen, usin’ what you got, and takin’ charge. Kinda like when you gotta get the cows back in the barn before a storm, you just gotta do it, no fussin’.
This fella who made these cards, he also made somethin’ called the Thelema Tarot. Sounds fancy, huh? They say the pictures in it are real pretty, all landscapes and such. And they’re supposed to help you connect to somethin’ deep inside, somethin’ bigger than yourself.
I reckon it’s like when you’re out in the fields at night, and you look up at the stars, and you just feel…small, but also part of somethin’ grand. That’s what they mean, I think. Connectin’ to the divine, they call it.
So, this Arcanum Tarot, it’s more than just pretty pictures. It’s about life, and learnin’, and findin’ your place in the world. It’s about takin’ what you got and makin’ the best of it. It’s about lookin’ at things from a different angle, and maybe, just maybe, seein’ somethin’ you ain’t seen before.
I ain’t no expert, mind you, just tellin’ it like I see it. But I reckon these cards, they got somethin’ to say, if you’re willin’ to listen.
