Okay, let’s talk about this “real sky astrology” thing. I got sucked into this rabbit hole a while back, and let me tell you, it’s a wild ride. I used to be into those daily horoscopes, you know, the ones that tell you whether your day will be good based on your sun sign. I started by reading those regularly.

Then I stumbled upon this whole “sidereal astrology” concept. Apparently, most of the horoscopes we read are based on tropical astrology, which, they say, is not really aligned with the actual positions of the constellations. Some people online said that about a third of Americans think astrology is at least kind of scientific. I started to feel that maybe I should learn more about it.
I delved into some articles about how accurate zodiac signs actually are. I found a lot of debates, but not much hard science. Some articles tried to explore the scientific perspective, but it all seemed pretty vague to me.
So, I decided to do my own little experiment. I downloaded a stargazing app on my phone, one that shows you the real-time positions of the stars and planets. I started by noting the positions of the constellations on my birthday, you know, to see where the sun really was. I compared that to what tropical astrology said my sun sign was. Surprise, surprise – they were different! It was kind of mind-blowing, to be honest.
Then I began tracking the moon’s phases, too. I read somewhere that the moon affects the tides and maybe even our moods, so I wanted to see if there was any correlation. I kept a journal, jotting down the moon’s position and how I was feeling each day.

- I noticed that during the full moon, I tended to feel more energetic, sometimes even a bit restless.
- During the new moon, I felt more introspective, kind of like I wanted to stay in and chill.
I also tried to map out the positions of other planets like Mercury and Venus. Some sources said they influence communication and relationships. It was a lot to keep track of, but I found it pretty interesting to see how these planets moved across the sky.
After a few months of doing this, I realized a few things.
- Firstly, the actual positions of the constellations are way different from what those popular horoscopes say.
- Secondly, tracking the moon’s phases did seem to match up with some of my mood swings. But then again, who doesn’t feel a bit more emotional sometimes?
My Conclusion
I don’t think I’d call myself a full-on astrology believer now. This whole thing made me think more about how we look at the stars and whether there’s any real connection to our lives. I am still not completely sure. But I gained a new appreciation for the night sky. I still use that stargazing app sometimes, just to look at the stars and wonder about all the mysteries out there. It’s kind of a peaceful feeling, you know? I think everyone should take some time to look up at the sky more often. It’s a great way to put things into perspective.
