Okay, so, I wanted to figure out this whole psychology thing at Colgate University, you know? It sounded interesting, and I’d heard some buzz about it. So I dug in. First off, I started by poking around their website to see what’s up with their psychology department. Turns out, they call it the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences. Sounds pretty fancy, right?

Then, I got into the whole history thing. I found out that Colgate was one of the first places in the U.S. to have a neuroscience program. I mean, they were offering neuroscience courses way back in 1972! That’s like, ancient history in university terms. It got me thinking, these guys must really know their stuff if they’ve been at it for so long.
After that, I started looking into what you actually do in their program. Seems like they give you a pretty solid base in psychology. You know, the basics. Nothing too out there, but enough to get you going.
I also noticed they mentioned something about “consultation with departmental advisers”. So, I figured you’d get to chat with some professors, work out your classes, and maybe get some advice on what you want to do with your degree. Seems pretty standard, but it’s good to know they have that kind of support. I guess.
Some Other Stuff I Noticed
- Honors and High Honors: I saw some stuff about honors and high honors, but honestly, I didn’t dig too deep into that. I was more interested in the main program.
- Transfer Credits: There was also a bit about transfer credits. But I’m not transferring, so I kinda skimmed over that part.
- Rankings and Salaries: Oh, and I did check out some rankings and average salaries for psychology grads from Colgate. Seemed pretty decent, but you know, those things can change. They also mentioned something about average debt, which is always good to keep in mind.
All in all, it seemed like a solid program. Nothing too flashy, but a good place to get a grounding in psychology. If I was starting out and wanted to study psych, I’d definitely consider it. Plus, it’s cool they were one of the first to do the whole neuroscience thing. That’s some serious bragging rights. That’s it, that’s all I did today.
