Okay, so I was messing around online, trying to figure out what kind of jobs you can actually get with a Master’s in Forensic Psychology. It’s a cool field, but like, what do you do with it, you know?

First, I just did a basic search. I literally typed “masters in forensic psychology jobs” into the search bar. I wanted to get a general idea of the landscape. It’s kinda overwhelming at first because you get a bunch of different websites, some helpful, some not so much.
My Job Searching Journey
So, I started digging through the search results. I skipped past the ads and the really generic stuff.
- Filtering the Junk: I ignored sites that looked like they were just trying to sell me online courses. I wanted real job postings or at least some solid info.
- Reading Descriptions Carefully: Whenever I found a job title that sounded remotely interesting, I read the description. A lot of times, the title sounded cool but the actual work didn’t seem like a good fit.
- Noting Requirements: For the jobs that did sound interesting, I started to pay attention to what they were asking for. Like, did they need specific experience? Were there any certifications I’d need to look into?
- Getting a little Frustrated with general websitesThere are some really generic descriptions that I could not find any real information.
I quickly realized I needed to be more specific. “Forensic psychology” is a pretty broad term,I was seeing everything from working in prisons to doing research, to consulting with law firms.
So, I did some more refined searching. I started adding keywords like “trial consulting,” “correctional,” “research,” and “clinical” to my searches. This helped me narrow things down a little bit.

I spent a good few hours just clicking around, taking notes, and basically trying to absorb as much information as I could. It’s a process, for sure!
I plan to keep digging and probably talk to some people actually working in the field to get the real scoop.
