Okay, so, I had this idea to combine two things I really dig: tarot cards and crossword puzzles. I thought, why not make a tarot card that’s also a crossword puzzle? And the theme? A howling wolf, because, well, wolves are just cool.

First off, I grabbed a piece of paper and started sketching. I drew a basic outline of a tarot card – you know, the rectangular shape and all that. Then, I sketched a wolf in the center, head thrown back, howling at the moon. It looked pretty decent, if I do say so myself.
- Brainstorming clues – This was the fun part. I jotted down a bunch of words related to wolves, tarot, and anything that came to mind, really. Words like “lunar,” “pack,” “arcana,” “fate,” you get the idea.
- Fitting the words – Next, I tried fitting these words into a crossword grid within the card’s border. It was like a puzzle in itself! I erased and redrew a lot, moving words around until they all fit nicely.
- Numbering the clues – Once I had the grid sorted, I numbered each word’s starting point, just like a regular crossword. Not gonna lie, this was a bit tedious, but hey, details matter.
Now, for the artistic part. I’m no artist, but I wanted this card to look halfway decent. I carefully inked over my pencil lines, making the wolf and the grid lines stand out. I even added some shading to the wolf to give it some depth. It was rough, but it worked.
Adding Some Color
- Choosing colors – I decided to go with a mainly black and white theme, because, well, it looked cool and mysterious. I used a bit of gray for the wolf and a touch of yellow for the moon.
- Coloring in – Armed with some colored pencils, I carefully colored in the moon and added some shading to the wolf. I kept the rest of the card black and white, ensuring the crossword grid remained clear and readable.
Finally, I wrote out the clues for each word on a separate piece of paper. I tried to make them a bit cryptic, you know, to keep with the tarot theme. For example, instead of just saying “wolf’s group,” I wrote something like “A family that howls together.”
And that’s pretty much it! It was a fun little project, and I’m actually quite happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but hey, it’s a tarot card with a howling wolf and a crossword puzzle on it. How cool is that? I might even try to make more of these in the future. Who knows, maybe a whole deck is next!
