So, I decided to look into the psychology program over at UALR recently. It’s been on my mind for a while, thinking about maybe going back to school or just seeing what’s involved. Psychology always seemed interesting, you know?

First thing I did was just hop online and start digging around on their website. Took a bit of clicking around, trying to find the specific page for the psychology department and then figuring out the admission details. Websites can be a maze sometimes, right?
Finding Out the Nitty-Gritty
Eventually, I landed on the page that laid out what you actually need to get into the program, or at least to be considered. It wasn’t super complicated, but you definitely need to check your own stats against it. I saw they mentioned needing a certain high school GPA – looked like a cumulative 2.25 on that standard 4.0 scale. Okay, doable for many, but made me think back to my own high school days.
Then there were the test scores. They listed requirements for the ACT or the SAT. For the ACT, it was about hitting 15 or higher on the English, Math, and Reading parts. If you took the SAT, they had numbers for that too. I remember seeing something about needing minimum scores, like maybe a 400 in Math and a 440 combined for Reading and Writing if you took the newer digital SAT. If you had the paper SAT scores, the numbers were different again. It felt like a bit of homework just understanding the requirements!
Getting the Application Stuff Together
Once I had a handle on what they were looking for, I started the actual process. This meant:

- Digging up my old high school transcripts. Had to request those, which involved a form and maybe a small fee, I think.
- Checking if I had ACT/SAT scores already or if I needed to figure that part out. Luckily, I had some scores from way back when.
- Filling out the online application form itself. That took a chunk of time – basic info, education history, the usual stuff.
- I think there might have been a small essay or personal statement part too, just explaining why I was interested in psychology at UALR. Had to dust off my writing skills for that bit.
It wasn’t too bad, just took some focused effort to gather everything and submit it all through their online portal. Felt good to finally hit that submit button after tracking down all the pieces.
Overall, it was a pretty standard application experience. You look up the requirements, gather your documents, fill out the forms, and hope for the best. Just wanted to share how it went down for me, step-by-step. If you’re thinking about it, just take it one piece at a time!
