Okay, so I stumbled upon this thing called “identity matrix psychology” and thought, “Why not give it a shot?” I mean, I’m always up for a bit of self-discovery, even if it sounds a little… out there.

First, I dug around online to get a basic sense of what it even was. It seemed like a way to map out different parts of your personality, your roles, and how they all connect. Sounded kinda cool, kinda complicated.
Getting Started: Listing My “Identities”
I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen – old school, I know – and started brainstorming all the different “hats” I wear. You know, like:
- Blogger
- Friend
- Family Member
- Partner
- Pet Owner(My cute cat!)
- Hobbyist (I like photograph.)
- …and so on.
It was actually kind of surprising how many I came up with! It’s like, you don’t really think about all these different aspects of yourself until you write them down.
Making Connections: The “Matrix” Part
Next, I tried to figure out how these different identities relate to each other. Like, how does being a “Blogger” influence my role as a “Friend”? Or how does being a “Partner” affect my “Hobbyist” side?

This is where it got a bit messy. I started drawing lines and arrows, trying to connect the dots. Some connections were obvious – like, being a “Pet Owner” definitely impacts my “Family Member” role (the cat is family, obviously!).
Others were less clear. It made me think about how some parts of my life might be a bit disconnected, or maybe even in conflict. For example, sometimes my desire to be a super-productive “Blogger” clashes with my need to just chill out and be a good “Friend.”
The Takeaway: So What Did I Learn?
Honestly, it’s still a work in progress. It’s not like I had some huge epiphany and suddenly understand everything about myself. But the process itself was pretty valuable.
- It helped me see my life in a more structured way.
- It made me think about how different parts of me interact.
- It showed me some areas where I might want to focus on creating more balance.
I’m not sure if I’ll keep up with this “identity matrix” thing regularly. It’s a bit time-consuming. But I think it’s a cool tool to pull out every now and then, just to check in with myself and see how things are evolving. If you are interesting, you may try it.
