Alright, guys, so I’ve been digging into this whole “industrial-organizational psychology” thing lately, and let me tell you, it’s a rabbit hole. I wanted to get a better handle on it, you know, really understand what makes people tick at work, how to make teams work better, all that good stuff. So, I figured, what better way than diving into some books on the subject? Here’s how I went about it and what I found.

The Search Begins
First things first, I needed to find some good books. I started with, well, where everyone starts – a simple search.
I typed in “industrial organizational psychology books” and, boom, tons of options. Honestly, it was a bit overwhelming at first. So many books, so little time!
Narrowing it Down
I knew I couldn’t read everything, so I needed a way to narrow it down. I started by looking for books that were recommended by multiple sources. You know, the ones that kept popping up on “best of” lists and in online discussions. I figured if a lot of people were talking about them, they must be pretty decent.
Checking Reviews and Summaries
Next, I started checking out reviews and summaries. I wanted to get a feel for what each book was about and if it sounded like something I’d actually enjoy reading. Ain’t nobody got time for boring textbooks, right? I looked for books that seemed practical, with real-world examples and tips I could actually use.

Making the First Purchase
After a good bit of searching, I decided to start with one that a lot of people raved about. The reviews looked good. I’ve ordered it and waiting for delievery!
Digging In
Once I got the books, I started with the book that covers the basic, it is not so hard to read. I took notes, highlighted key passages, the whole nine yards. I really wanted to absorb the information, not just skim through it.
Putting it into Practice
As I’m reading, I’m constantly thinking about how I can apply this stuff to my own life and work. I found myself looking at my workplace in a whole new way, and I even try out some of the tips in the book with my team.
The Long Road Ahead
So, that’s where I’m at now. It’s definitely a journey, not a sprint. There’s so much to learn in this field, and I’m excited to keep digging deeper. I’ll probably pick up a few more books down the road, but for now, I’m focusing on really digesting what I’ve got. It’s been pretty eye-opening so far, and I’m already seeing some positive changes in how I approach things at work.
