Okay, so today I decided to dig into the Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS). It’s been on my radar for a while, and I finally carved out some time to see what it’s all about. Here’s how it went down:

First Steps: The Website
My journey started, like most things these days, with a simple web search. I found the institute’s main page. It was…well, it was a website. Nothing too flashy, but it had all the basic info: programs offered, faculty, mission statement, that kind of stuff.
Getting My Bearings
I spent a good chunk of time just clicking around. I wanted to get a feel for what they emphasize.
I noticed a strong emphasis on integrating psychology with a, faith, perspective. That’s interesting, and something I wanted to learn more about.

Diving into Programs
Next, I focused on the programs. They’ve got a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology, a Master’s in Psychology, and even some online options. I was mostly curious about the Psy.D., so I dug into the curriculum details. Lots of coursework, obviously, plus practicum and internship requirements. Pretty standard for a doctoral program, but again, that faith-based integration kept popping up. It’s clearly a core part of their approach.
Checking Out the Faculty
- I also spent some time reading faculty bios. Wanted to see who’s teaching there, what their backgrounds are, and what kind of research they’re doing.
- Seemed like a mix of experienced clinicians and academics, many with publications and presentations under their belts.
My Overall Impression
After spending the whole afternoon exploring, I’ve got a decent first impression. I went in knowing practically nothing, and now I feel like I have a basic understanding of what the Institute for the Psychological Sciences is all about. I can say the school’s mission and integration has give me a deep impression.
It is not the end. I think I will continue to pay my attention on it.I need to see if anyone I know has connections there. Real-world insights are always the best!
