Okay, so I had my “Intro to Psychology Exam 2” today, and let me tell you, it was a journey. I figured I’d share my whole process, from freaking out to (hopefully) acing it.

The Initial Panic
First off, I procrastinated. Big time. I had all these grand plans of studying a little bit each day, but life, you know? Netflix, hanging out with friends, suddenly cleaning my entire apartment… anything but studying.
So, two days before the exam, I’m staring at a mountain of notes and textbook chapters, and I’m basically sweating bullets.
The Cram Session Begins
I locked myself in my room. Seriously, I told my roommate to only interrupt if the building was on fire.
- Step 1: Coffee. Lots of it.
- Step 2: Organize. I gathered all my notes, handouts, and the textbook. I even found some old practice quizzes online.
- Step 3: Divide and Conquer. I broke down the material into chunks. Like, one chapter at a time. It felt less overwhelming that way.
The Study Methods
I’m not gonna lie, I tried a bunch of different things. Some worked, some… not so much.

- Flashcards: Old school, but they helped me memorize key terms and definitions.
- Practice Questions: These were a lifesaver. Answering questions helped me figure out what I actually knew and what I was just pretending to know.
- Explaining it Out Loud: I literally talked to myself, explaining concepts as if I were teaching them to someone else. Sounds crazy, but it works!
- Taking Breaks: Okay, this is important. Every hour or so, I got up, stretched, walked around, and gave my brain a rest.
The Night Before
I avoided pulling an all-nighter. I know some people swear by it, but I just end up feeling like a zombie. I reviewed my notes one last time, got a decent night’s sleep (as much as possible with pre-exam jitters), and made sure I had everything ready for the morning.
Exam Day!
I woke up, ate a good breakfast (brain food!), and headed to the exam room. I took deep breaths, reminded myself that I had prepared, and dove in.
The Aftermath
Honestly, it’s a bit of a blur. But I felt pretty good afterward. I answered all the questions, used the strategies I’d practiced, and didn’t panic (too much). Now, it’s just a waiting game to get the results. Fingers crossed!
The whole thing made me re-think my approach to studying. It’s a good reminder to take it step-by-step, so I can learn better, and not leave everything to the last minute next time. Wish me luck!
