Okay, so I wanted to get a handle on this “Intro to Psychology” thing. I’ve heard it’s a popular class, and I figured, why not see what the fuss is about? So, I started by trying to find a syllabus.

First, I just did a simple search. Typed in “intro to psychology syllabus” and hoped for the best. I got a bunch of results, most of them were from different universities.
I clicked on a few, just scrolling through. Some were super detailed, with week-by-week breakdowns, reading assignments, grading policies – the whole nine yards. Others were pretty basic, just listing topics and maybe some exam dates.
What I Looked For
- Course Description: What am i get my self into?
- Textbooks: What is the books? is it expensive?
- Grading: Do attendence be part of it?
- Topics Covered: What am i gona learn from it?
I spent a good chunk of time just reading through these different syllabi. I started to notice some common themes. Most of them covered the basics: history of psychology, research methods, the brain and nervous system, sensation and perception, learning, memory, cognition, motivation, emotion, development, personality, social psychology, and psychological disorders.
I copied some of the key topics and the descriptions into a text. Just to keep track of what seemed most common or interesting. I saved this document, figuring it might be useful later.

After looking at a few, I picked one that seemed pretty representative. It had a good balance of detail and clarity. I downloaded it as a PDF. Just to have it handy.
Then I decided I would probably try follow along. Baby steps.
