Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into psychology for a while now, just to, you know, understand people better and maybe even myself. I finally decided to take the plunge and, well, here’s how it went.

Finding a Starting Point
First, I googled “introduction to psychology” like everyone else. Honestly, I was immediately overwhelmed. So many books, courses, websites… it was information overload!
After scrolling for what felt like forever, I decided to go with a basic online * seemed less daunting than a huge textbook.
Diving In (Slowly)
I started the course, and the first few modules were pretty easy. Basic concepts, the history of psychology – stuff like that. I even took some notes, feeling all studious and whatnot.
- What is psychology?
- The different approaches.
- Some famous psychologists I’d never heard of.
Getting Confused
Then, things got a little… complicated. I hit a section on the different schools of thought – structuralism, functionalism, behaviorism. My eyes started to glaze over. I tried to keep up, but I was definitely getting lost in the jargon.

Taking a Break (and Re-strategizing)
So, I took a break. I realized I needed a different approach. Maybe something more visual? I found some YouTube videos that explained the same concepts, but with animations and simpler language. That helped a lot!
Making it Practical
The videos got me thinking about how I could apply this stuff to real life. For example, I started paying more attention to how people behave in different situations, and I even tried to analyze my own reactions to things.
Still Learning
I’m definitely not an expert yet, but I feel like I’ve made a decent start. I’m still working my way through that online course, and I’m watching more videos. It’s a slow process, but I’m actually enjoying it. I even think I am understanding a little bit more every single day! I think maybe this will go somewhere.
