Okay, so I finally decided to dive into “Introduction to Psychology, 16th Edition.” I’d heard good things, and honestly, my understanding of psychology was pretty much limited to what I’d seen on TV. Time to change that!

First, I grabbed the book. It’s a hefty one! Then I found a comfy spot on my couch, made myself a cup of coffee, and opened it up. I decided to start with the first chapter, obviously.
Getting Started
- I started reading, and, well, it was a bit dense at first. Lots of names and theories I’d never heard of.
- I kept pushing through, though. I figured it would get easier as I went along.
- I took a few notes on some words I really didn’t understand.
I spent a good couple of hours just working my way through that first chapter. I re-read some sections a few times to really make sure I understood them. I also, use my phone to google some quick definitons.
Making Progress
After the intial struggle, I started to get into a rhythm. I found that taking breaks every 30 minutes or so helped me stay focused. I’d get up, walk around, grab a snack, and then come back to it.
I also try to take some simply notes about everthing I read and think about.

It’s definitely a lot to take in, but I’m feeling pretty good about finally tackling this book. I’m planning to keep chipping away at it a little bit each day. Slow and steady wins the race, right? I’m actually looking forward to seeing what I learn next!
