Okay, so I decided to look into minoring in psychology at IU. Here’s how it all went down, step by step.

Figuring Out Why
First, I had to figure out why I even wanted to do this. I’m majoring in something completely different, so it wasn’t an obvious choice. I’ve always been fascinated by how people think and behave, and I thought a psych minor might give me some cool insights. plus, it could help with what my future career, which is my major, you know?
Diving into the Requirements
Next, I spent some serious time digging into the IU website. I needed to know exactly what courses were required for the minor. It’s a bit of a maze navigating those academic bulletins, honestly. I finally found the psychology minor page. Not going to lie, that was a bit of a struggle.
Making a Plan
- I listed out all the required courses.
- Then I checked which ones were offered in the upcoming semesters. Some are only offered at certain times, which is super annoying.
- I started playing around with my schedule, trying to fit everything in without totally overloading myself. It’s like a puzzle!
Talking to an Advisor
Even after all that planning, I still felt a bit lost. So, I decided to take action and book an appointment with an academic advisor. The advisor gave me a real person to walk me through it. The advisor was really helpful, actually. She gave me some tips on which courses to take together and which ones to avoid pairing up because they’re super intense.
Register My Course
Finally, I take the class. The course is great, and the teacher is great, too.

Feeling Good
So, that’s where I’m at now. I’ve got a solid plan, I’ve talked to an advisor, and I’m feeling pretty good about this whole psychology minor thing. It’s definitely going to be a challenge, but I think it’ll be worth it in the end. I’m on the track to become a minor in psychology in IU.
