Okay, folks, let’s dive into my little adventure of figuring out this whole “Long Island University Clinical Psychology PhD” thing.
So, I’ve been poking around, trying to get a handle on what it takes to get into a Clinical Psychology PhD program, and Long Island University (LIU) kept popping up. I figured, “Why not? Let’s see what this is all about.”
The Initial Digging
First things first, I hit up their website. You know, the usual drill. I wanted to see what their program was actually like. I started clicking through all the tabs – faculty, research areas, curriculum… the whole nine yards. I was basically just trying to get a feel for the place.
Figuring Out the Requirements
Then came the fun part – decoding the admission requirements. Let me tell you, it’s a bit of a list! I made notes of the basic, GRE scores, GPA, letters of recommendation, personal statement…the whole deal. I scribbled everything that I already knew, just to not miss anything.
- GPA: Gotta have that up there, obviously.
- GRE Scores: Time to dust off those test-prep books, I guess.
- Letters of Recommendation: Better start buttering up some professors.
- Personal Statement: This is where I really needed to shine and show them who I am.
- Research Experience: Seemed important, so I added to my all notes.
Reaching Out (Maybe)
I also thought about emailing some current students or faculty. You know, just to get the inside scoop. I haven’t done it yet, but it’s on my to-do list. Getting a real person’s perspective is always super helpful, I figure.

The Application Grind
Next step? Actually, you know, applying. I mean after collecting the requirements. Gathering all those transcripts, writing that personal statement, and bugging people for recommendations. It’s a whole process, and honestly, a bit of a pain, but hey, gotta do what you gotta do.
Making My Decision
I will get all the information together, pros and cons, and all that jazz. Gotta weigh my options and see if LIU is the right fit for me, you know? It’s a big decision!
And finally, I decided if this is going to be the path I am taking. After all, it’s all about the information that I have.
So, that’s where I’m at with this whole LIU Clinical Psychology PhD exploration. It’s a journey, that’s for sure! I’m just taking it one step at a time and trying to figure it all out as I go.
