Okay, so today was a bit different. I got caught up going down a rabbit hole with these things called psychology riddles. It wasn’t really planned, just sort of happened.

It started this morning, scrolling through some forums, you know, just killing time. Saw someone post a riddle that was supposed to mess with your head a bit, make you think about why you answered a certain way. Got me curious.
Finding the Riddles
So, I thought, right, let’s find some more of these. Opened up a new tab and just typed in “psychology riddles” or something like that. A whole bunch popped up. Some were pretty simple, others seemed designed to trick you based on common assumptions.
Trying Them Out
I spent a good hour, maybe more, just reading them and trying to figure them out myself first. It was kinda fun, actually. Here’s what I noticed:

- Some were easy to spot the ‘trick’. They play on words or common biases.
- Others were genuinely tough. I had to stop and really think, like, why am I leaning towards this answer?
- A few just made me feel a bit dumb, gotta be honest. Couldn’t see the logic until I peeked at the explanations people provided online.
One that stuck with me was about a surgeon who couldn’t operate on their son because the surgeon was the boy’s mother. It’s old, I know, but it still catches people out because they automatically picture a surgeon as male. It shows how ingrained some biases are, even when you think you’re being logical.
Sharing the ‘Fun’
Later on, I tried a couple on my wife. Her reactions were interesting. Sometimes she got them right away, other times she fell into the same mental traps I did. We had a bit of a laugh about it. It’s weirdly revealing how two people can look at the same simple words and come up with totally different first thoughts.
We didn’t get deep into the actual psychology theory stuff, wasn’t about that. It was more about seeing the patterns in our own thinking, right there in the moment. Like, “Ah, yeah, I totally assumed that” or “Why did my brain jump there?”.
What I Reckon
So, what did I get out of this little session? Well, it was a decent way to spend some time, for one. But more than that, it was a simple reminder of how our brains take shortcuts. We make assumptions all the time without even realizing it. These riddles just put a spotlight on that process.

It’s not some big scientific discovery I made here, obviously. Just a personal observation from playing around with some quirky questions. It makes you pause and think about how you think, even if just for a minute. And yeah, sometimes it’s just fun to be tricked and then see why.
That was pretty much my day with psychology riddles. Just messing around, thinking a bit, and seeing those mental shortcuts in action. Simple stuff, really.
