Okay, here’s my blog post about figuring out if “Lotus Bloom Psychology” takes my insurance:

So, I’ve been meaning to find a therapist for a while now, and I kept hearing good things about this place called Lotus Bloom Psychology. Sounds nice, right? But the big question before I even think about booking an appointment is: Do they take my insurance?
First, I grabbed my insurance card. Gotta know the specifics, you know? Mine’s a PPO plan, but they come in all shapes and sizes. HMO, POS, EPO… it’s a whole alphabet soup.
Next, I went straight to the source: the Lotus Bloom Psychology website. Usually, practices will have a page about insurance, sometimes under an “FAQ” or “Fees & Insurance” section. I scrolled and scanned, looking for any mention of accepted insurance plans.
Sometimes, they list the insurance companies directly. You might see big names, or maybe a smaller list of local providers. If they do list them, I check carefully to see if mine is on there. Easy peasy if it is!

What if the Website Doesn’t Say?
If the website’s not helpful, it’s time to get on the phone. I found the practice’s phone number and called them up. I just asked straight up, “Hi, I’m considering becoming a patient, and I have [My Insurance Company]. Do you accept that?”
The person on the phone was super helpful (or sometimes, not so much, it happens). They might ask for my specific plan name or member ID number, just to double-check. They may give me a direct answer or may put you on hold to check with someone else.
Another tip, you could also call your insurance company! Find their phone number, and call to them, “Hi, I’d like to ask that Lotus Bloom Psychology is one of your in-network providers?” The insurance will check it for you.
It takes a little bit of digging, but finding out about insurance beforehand saves a ton of stress (and potential bills) down the road. Don’t be shy about calling and asking – it’s your health and your money!
