Okay, so I’ve been digging into Loyola’s Counseling Psychology program, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I wanted to share my whole process, from start to finish, in case anyone else is considering it.

First Steps: The Initial Research
I started by, you know, just Googling. I typed in “Loyola Counseling Psychology” and started browsing. I looked at their official website, read through the program description, faculty profiles, and course requirements. Honestly, it was a little overwhelming at first with all the information.
Reaching Out: Contacting the Department
After taking notes, I felt I needed to put some questions to real people.
I decided to reach out directly to the department. I found the contact information on the website and sent a simple email. I introduced myself, explained my interest in the program, and asked a few specific questions about the curriculum and application process. I figured it couldn’t hurt to get some insider info.
The Waiting Game: Patience is Key
Then came the waiting. It took a few days, but I finally got a response! The department secretary was super helpful. She answered my questions and even offered to connect me with a current student. This was a big win.
Talking to a Student: Getting the Real Scoop
The student, I am so glad that they connected me with, was awesome. I must had a list of questions I had for them. We hopped on a video call, and I got to ask about their experiences in the program, the workload, the professors, and the overall vibe. It was incredibly valuable to get that firsthand perspective.
- I asked about the hardest parts of the program.
- I asked about their favorite classes.
- I even asked about their social life and how they balanced everything.
Gathering Materials And Getting To Work!
After doing all of this, I felt confident moving toward applying. Getting transcripts, writing that personal statement, and nagging people for letters of recommendation. It’s a lot of work.
I did apply and am still waiting, will keep everyone posted!
