Okay, so I wanted to brush up on my developmental psychology knowledge, and I figured a good way to do that is with some flashcards. I’ve used Quizlet before, and it’s pretty handy, so I decided to give it a shot for this.

Getting Started
First, I opened up Quizlet on my computer. I already had an account, so I just logged in. If you don’t have one, it’s super easy to sign up, you just need an email.
Once I was in, I typed “introduction to developmental psychology” into the search bar. So many sets popped up! It was a little overwhelming, to be honest.
Picking a Study Set
I scrolled through a few of the sets. Some had way too many terms, others were too basic. I finally found one that seemed like a good fit – not too long, not too short, just right. It covered the main concepts I wanted to review like Piaget’s stages, Erikson’s psychosocial stages, and some of the key developmental milestones.
Studying with Flashcards
I clicked on the “Flashcards” button.

The first term popped up.
I read it to myself.
I tried to come up with the definition before flipping the card.
When I was ready,I clicked on the card and see if I was right.

I went through the cards like this, flipping them back and forth. Some of the terms I knew right away, others I needed to think about for a bit. If I really struggled with a term, I clicked the little star icon to mark it for later review. Quizlet lets you study just the starred terms, which is super useful.
Using Other Study Modes
After I felt pretty good about the flashcards, I tried out some of the other study modes. Quizlet has a “Learn” mode that’s kind of like a guided quiz, and a “Test” mode that generates practice tests. I found the “Learn” mode really helpful for making sure I actually understood the concepts, not just memorized the definitions.
Wrapping Up
I spent about an hour going through the flashcards and using the different study modes. By the end, I felt much more confident in my understanding of the basics of developmental psychology. It’s not like I’m an expert now, but it was a great refresher. And I know I can always go back to that Quizlet set whenever I need to brush up again. It is much easier than look up books.
