Okay, so I decided to check out the Midwest Psychological Association Conference in 2024. I’d heard good things, and figured it might be a cool way to get some new ideas and maybe even network a bit. Here’s how it went down.
Getting Started
First thing I did was to hit up their website. I needed to see the dates, the location, and of course, figure out how much it was gonna cost me. I found the basic info pretty easily – it was all laid out on the main page. Registration was open, so I went ahead and signed up. The process was smooth, and I was good to go.
Digging into the Program
Once I was registered, I started looking at the actual conference schedule. They had a massive list of presentations, workshops, and poster sessions. Seriously, it was a lot to take in! I spent a good chunk of time just browsing through the titles and abstracts, trying to decide what I wanted to see.
I used the filter options to narrow things down by my areas of interest. That helped a lot, and I start building my own personal schedule of sessions that I thought I’d enjoy.
Attending the Conference
When the conference day finally arrived, I make my way to the venue. It was full of activity, with people milling around, checking in, and grabbing coffee. I picked up my badge and conference materials, and then went to get to the first session on my list.

- The presentations were a mixed bag. Some were super engaging and made me think, while others were, well, a little dry. But hey, that’s how it goes, right?
- I made sure to check out the poster sessions, too. It was a cool way to see what people were researching, and I even chatted with a few folks about their work.
- I attended a couple of workshops that I thought would be useful. The workshops were hands-on and practical, so I felt like I actually learned some new skills.
Reflecting on My Experience
Overall, I’m glad I went to the conference. I learned some new things, met some interesting people, and got a better sense of what’s happening in the field. It was a bit overwhelming at times, with so much going on, but I think I made the most of it. If I go next year, I may be a little more selective about the program and sessions, but it will still be a great learning experience for me.
