Okay, so yesterday I was trying to get my head around some social psychology stuff for a project I’m working on. I decided to dive into the “Social Psychology” textbook by Kassin. Figured the 11th edition would have all the latest updates and research, right?

First thing I did was hit up Google, searching for “social psychology 11th edition kassin ebook”. I’m not trying to spend a ton of money on a physical copy if I can help it. Plus, an ebook is way easier to search and carry around.
I clicked through a few links, some were dead ends, others were those sketchy websites that promise free downloads but probably just give you a virus. I definitely avoided those! After a bit of digging, I finally found a site that looked legit. It had a preview of the book, so I could see it was actually the right edition and author.
The site wanted me to sign up for a “free trial” to access the ebook. I’m always wary of those, but I read the fine print (sort of) and it seemed like I could cancel before they charged me. So, I created an account, downloaded the ebook as a PDF.
Once I had the PDF, I started skimming through the chapters that were relevant to my project. I was mainly looking for info on attitude formation and persuasion. The book is pretty dense, but Kassin does a good job of explaining complex concepts in a way that’s (mostly) easy to understand. I highlighted a bunch of stuff and took some notes.

The only annoying thing was that the PDF wasn’t searchable. I mean, it was, but the search function was clunky and didn’t always find what I was looking for. So, I ended up having to manually scroll through a lot of pages. That took some time!
After a few hours of reading and note-taking, I felt like I had a much better grasp on the material. I even found a couple of studies that I think I can use in my project. Now, I just need to remember to cancel that “free trial” before they ding my credit card!
Overall, getting the ebook was a good move. It saved me some money and gave me access to the info I needed. Just be careful when you’re downloading ebooks online and make sure you’re not accidentally signing up for some kind of scam!
