Okay, folks, let’s dive into my recent escapade with renewing my psychology license with the Maryland Board. It’s not exactly a trip to Disneyland, but hey, gotta keep things legit, right?

So, the first thing I did was, well, panic a little. Just kidding (mostly). I actually started by digging up my old license information. I knew the renewal date was looming, but time flies when you’re, you know, analyzing it. I needed my license number and the expiration date, which, thankfully, I had stashed away in my “important documents” folder (aka the junk drawer of truth).
Next, I headed over to the Board’s website. I’d bookmarked it ages ago, figuring this day would come. Gotta say, navigating government websites can feel like exploring a maze blindfolded. But after some clicking around – and maybe a bit of muttering – I found the section for license renewals.
Continuing Education
Now, here’s where it gets “fun.” Continuing Education, or CE, credits. We all love learning, right? Okay, maybe not always, but it’s part of the deal. I had to make sure I had enough of those pesky CE hours racked up. I double-checked my records from workshops, online courses, and conferences I’d attended. Luckily, I’m a bit of a CE hoarder, so I was in the clear.
- Checked my CE transcript online (another website, another login…sigh).
- Confirmed I had the required number of hours in the correct categories (ethics, supervision, etc. – they keep us on our toes!).
The actual payment
Then came the online application itself. It was a pretty standard form – name, address, license number, the usual suspects. I filled everything out carefully, because nobody wants to deal with delays because of a typo. I think I triple-checked my social security number. You can never be too careful with that stuff.

Finally, the moment of truth: payment. I whipped out my trusty credit card and paid the renewal fee. It stung a little, I won’t lie, but it’s a small price to pay to keep doing what I love. After I hit “submit,” I got a confirmation email, which I promptly printed out and stuck in that same “important documents” folder. Gotta have proof, you know?
And that’s it! I’m officially good to go for another couple of years. Now, back to the real world of therapy sessions, paperwork, and, yes, more CE credits. It’s a never-ending cycle, but someone’s gotta do it!
