Okay, so I had this big psychology final coming up, and I was kinda freaking out. I mean, intro to psych is a LOT of stuff. So, I decided to hit up Quizlet, ’cause, you know, flashcards are usually my go-to.
First, I gathered all my notes, the textbook chapters, and any handouts from class. I wanted everything in one place so I could figure out what I really needed to focus on.
Then, I started making my own Quizlet sets. Instead of just using pre-made ones, I figured making my own would help me learn better. I broke it down chapter by chapter, making a set for each one.
- Chapter 1: What is Psychology? (Lots of definitions here!)
- Chapter 2: Research Methods (Ugh, the scientific method stuff…)
- Chapter 3: Biological Psychology (Brain parts and neurotransmitters…yikes!)
- And the list goes on and go on…
The Making Process
For each chapter, I went through my notes and picked out the key terms and concepts. I typed up the terms on one side of the flashcard and the definitions or explanations on the other. I also tried to include examples whenever I could, ’cause that helps me remember things better.
It was a grind, not gonna lie. It took me a few days, working on it for a couple of hours each day. But, by the time I was done, I had a HUGE set of flashcards covering pretty much everything.
Using MY Quizlet sets
Then came the studying part. Quizlet has all these different study modes, like “Learn” and “Test.” I mostly stuck with “Learn” because it forces you to keep going until you get everything right.
I also used the “Test” mode to quiz myself and see where I was still weak. The “Match” game is pretty fun, too. Good for fast recall!
I spent about a week just drilling myself with these flashcards. I’d do it on my phone while waiting in line, on the bus, whenever I had a few spare minutes.
Finally, the exam day arrived. I was still a little nervous, but I felt WAY more prepared than I would have without Quizlet. And guess what? I aced it! Seriously, all that work paid off. Quizlet totally saved my grade in intro to psych. So, yeah, if you’ve got a big test coming up, definitely give it a try. It worked for me!
