Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this whole “Random Rosenbohm Horoscope” thing, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. I saw some people talking about it online, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” It’s basically this thing where you get a random horoscope generated for you, and they’re always super long and detailed, like, way more than those little blurbs you see in the newspaper.
First off, I tried to find out what is that, there seems to be no official definition or tool for it, only some random discussions. Then I decided to build one myself.
I started by trying to figure out how these things are even made. I’m no astrologer, so I had to do some digging. It turns out there are these things called “houses” and “planets” and “aspects,” and they all have these different meanings. I spent a good chunk of time just reading about all that stuff, trying to wrap my head around it.
Gathering some basic elements
- The Signs: There’re like, 12 of these, right? Aries, Taurus, Gemini, and so on. Each one has its own vibe and personality traits.
- The Planets: Okay, so we’ve got the Sun, the Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars… you get the idea. Each of these is supposed to represent different parts of your personality or life, like your emotions, your love life, your energy levels.
- The Houses: These are like sections of your life, from your personal self (the 1st house) to your career (the 10th house) to your subconscious mind (the 12th house).
Then I started thinking about how to randomly generate these things. It was like playing some strange version of Dungeons & Dragons. I wrote out all the signs, planets, and houses, and then I started randomly assigning them to each other. This planet in this house, that sign in that house, and so on.
Combining and Generating
Next, I tried to make sentences out of these combinations. I’d have something like “Sun in Aries in the 7th house,” and I’d try to write a sentence about what that could mean. That part was tricky, cause I was just making it all up as I went along. I probably sounded like a total weirdo, but hey, it was fun.

After I had a bunch of these sentences, I started putting them together into paragraphs, and then into full-on horoscopes. It was like building with LEGOs, but with words and made-up astrological meanings. I even started adding in these little “lucky numbers” and “lucky colors” at the end, just for kicks.
Finally, I had this whole system for generating these random horoscopes. I’d just plug in a name or a birthdate, and it would spit out this huge, detailed horoscope. Some of them were surprisingly accurate, or at least, they felt that way. Others were just plain silly. But either way, it was always entertaining.
So yeah, that’s my Random Rosenbohm Horoscope adventure. It was a lot of work, and a lot of it was probably nonsense, but it was a fun project. I learned a bit about astrology, I got to flex my creative writing muscles, and I ended up with a cool little tool for generating random fortunes. Not bad for a few weeks of messing around, right?
