Okay, so I’ve been messing around with tarot cards lately, specifically the Witchcraft deck. I gotta say, it’s been a pretty wild ride. Let me tell you all about it.

First, I got myself the deck. I remember unwrapping it, the cards felt kinda smooth, and the artwork? Super intense, lots of dark colors and witchy vibes. I spent a good hour just flipping through them, getting a feel for each card.
Getting Started
- Cleansing: I’d heard you’re supposed to “cleanse” a new deck, so I waved some sage smoke over them. I don’t know if it actually did anything, but it felt right, you know?
- Connecting: Then I tried to, like, connect with the cards. I held the deck in my hands, closed my eyes, and tried to clear my mind. Honestly, I mostly just felt awkward.
My First Reading
My first actual reading? Total chaos. I laid out the cards in some spread I found online (Celtic Cross, I think?), and then I stared at them, totally blank. I had the little guidebook, but it was all so confusing. Keywords, symbolism, reversals… my head was spinning.
I remember pulling the Death card and freaking out a little. But then I read more about it, and it’s not actually about, like, dying dying. It’s more about transformation and change. Still kinda spooky, though.
Practice Makes…Better?
I’ve been practicing almost every day since then. I pull a single card each morning, just to get a feel for the day ahead. Sometimes it makes sense, sometimes it doesn’t. I’m still learning all the meanings, and I’m starting to see how the cards can relate to each other.

It’s definitely a process. I’m not claiming to be some tarot master or anything. But it’s been a fun way to explore my intuition, and I’m getting a little better at understanding the cards each time. It’s like learning a new language, slow and sometimes frustrating, but ultimately pretty rewarding. I think that going forward I may try a different spread, and keep on practicing until I’m comfortable!
