Okay, so I’ve been getting into tarot cards lately. It’s kinda fun, and I like the idea of getting a little guidance. But I always get stuck on what to ask! So I decided to really dig in and figure out some good questions to ask the tarot cards.

Brainstorming My Questions
First, I grabbed my notebook and a pen – gotta have my favorite pen for this! – and just started brainstorming. I thought about what areas of my life I wanted some clarity on. I wrote down stuff like:
- Love life (of course!)
- Career stuff – feeling a little lost there
- Just general “what’s coming up” vibes
- Maybe some about friendships, too?
Then I started thinking about the types of questions. I remembered reading somewhere that you shouldn’t ask “yes or no” questions. So I tried to make them more open-ended. Like, instead of “Will I get a new job?” I wrote down “What do I need to know about my career path right now?” Much better, right?
Trying It Out
I shuffled my deck – I’m still learning how to do that fancy shuffle, so it’s a little clumsy – and focused on my first question: “What do I need to focus on in my love life right now?” I pulled three cards, laid them out, and then looked up the meanings in my little guidebook.
It was actually pretty interesting! The cards talked about communication, being open to new experiences, and not being afraid to be vulnerable. It’s not like it gave me a direct answer, but it gave me some things to think about. It felt… helpful, in a weird way.

Refining My Question List
After that first try, I went back to my list and tweaked some of the questions. I made them even more specific. Like, instead of just “general vibes,” I wrote down “What energy should I be aware of in the next month?” It felt like I was getting better at this!
Here are some of questions to ask tarot cards that I endend up with:
- What do I need to focus on to improve my relationship with [person’s name]?
- What is blocking me from achieving my goals in [area of life]?
- What lesson am I currently learning?
- What should I embrace more of in my life?
- What should I release or let go of?
Keeping Track
I decided to keep a little tarot journal, too. I wrote down the date, the question I asked, the cards I pulled, and my initial thoughts. I figure it’ll be cool to look back on later and see if any of it made sense in the long run. It’s all part of the learning process, I guess!
And then I do it again and again, and I keep my practice with tarot cards.
